Title: Solar Project Developer
Supervisor: VP of Development
Purpose: Development and management of solar projects

Position responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, approve, and deliver all project based contractual and financial obligations for utility and distributed generation PV projects
  • Prepare project proforma and perform a financial analysis to present to upper management for project approval
  • Perform preliminary site visit for evaluation and feasibility of design including all data gathering for development
  • Support clients with all preliminary due diligence on project development
  • Prepare energy analysis and development budget for project sale
  • Review and assist Engineering in writing scope of works for third party subcontractors for project development
  • Oversee all outsourced design Engineering work - Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering and ensure contractual obligations are met and implemented into design
  • Assist in Selection of Subcontractors, awarding RFP contracts and assigning work to Subcontractors
  • Responsible for all MV Interconnections and documentation submittals to Utility and Township
  • Responsible for all entitlements, permitting including Special Use Permit applications through State and Federal government agencies, submitting and obtaining building permits from Townships. Act as liaison and manage relationships with governmental, environmental as well as engineering firms and consultants to prepare all necessary documentation for presentation to the proper authorities in order to obtain permits and licenses
  • Coordination of all necessary construction inspections with state and federal agencies
  • Oversee each phase of a project, including but not limited to coordination and assignment of tasks for internal Project Teams
  • Determining the necessity of subcontractors or third-party vendors, and taking the appropriate courses of action to ensure the completion of project milestones within deadlines and within approved budgets
  • Create and manage project scheduling and cost controls
  • Understand energy policy, relevant state, county, city, and utility codes, procedures, regulations, and interconnection requirements pertinent to projects
  • Acquire appropriate internal approvals prior to submitting letters of intent and/or purchase orders
  • Evaluate all RFP’s and approve PO’s
  • Set up internal and external communications as they pertain to the project’s development and hold weekly status update meetings with Stakeholders

Experience:

  •  Ideal candidate will have proven solar project development and finance experience with commercial and utility scale PV with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience of solar development required
  • Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering background with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience required
  • Solar project finance and energy analysis with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience required
  • Candidate should demonstrate strong field experience alongside advanced supervisory, management and administrative ability
  • Hands-on background in solar development with responsibility towards managing multi-million dollar, multi-megawatt PV projects along with knowledge of PV systems, inverters and project financing

Qualifications:

  • BA and/or master’s degree in engineering
  • NABCEP sales certification a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business relationships in the commercial and industrial space quickly and develop rapport with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and effectively engage with cross-functional employee groups of all levels and competencies
  • Self-starter, able to work independently with the ability to quickly resolve key project issues with little oversight
  • High level of professionalism with attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Superior time management and interpersonal skills
  • High proficiency with MS Excel, MS Project, and/or other financial evaluation software's
  • Fluency of MS Word, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of PV Watts, PVSYST, Salesforce, Procore, Box, Dropbox, and advanced financial modeling

Location:

  • Mahwah, NJ

Educational Background:

  • Minimum BA/BS degree required in Engineering
  • Master’s Degree a plus
  • Any courses in PV will be considered a plus

Travel: up to 30%.
